about

my story

When I was in kindergarten, I drew this picture of what I wanted to be when I grew up - a very crude crayon drawing of 5 year old me as a baker. i remember being really fascinated with how the local grocery store bakery could pipe roses out of frosting, and promising myself one day i’d learn how to make roses out of frosting.

flash forward 20 years. I’ve graduated college and was a little lost trying to figure out what i want to do with my life. I had a degree in english but no idea how to use it. I got a job at a local bakery in my hometown. It was a long, hot summer of baking cakes, brownies, cookies, and muffins from scratch. I was on my feet for several hours, lifting giant bowls of batter, and turning giant trays in and out of the oven. My feet and back ached, I lost weight, and I was exhausted. But somehow, despite all of the hardship required of a real baker, I loved every moment of it. I knew this is what I wanted to do, i would realize this more and more over the next several years.
